A restaurant in Pittsburgh has been ordered closed following multiple health violations.
The Allegheny County Health Department says China Star on Murray Avenue in Greenfield was closed on Wednesday.
According to an inspection report, China Star had several “high risk” violations.
They include dead insects inside a flour bucket at the top of the stairs to the basement, a package of chilies in a storage room with dropping around it and a barrel of sugar and msg both had rodent droppings in it.
Chewed products were seen near fresh rodent droppings in dry storage rack areas near the basement back door and the walk-in cooler in the basement.
Also, old cooked rice that was stored in an unheated rice cooker was being reheated. The rice was at room temperature for an unknown time. That rice was thrown away.
Uncovered and unfrozen raw check was observed on top of uncooked wontons in a cooler.
A lack of handwashing was observed while food was prepared in the kitchen and all food contact surfaces were covered in grease and/or food residue and rodent dropping.
