Carrie Meredith is accused of not reporting suspected sexual misconduct between a Faith Academy teacher and a student, which is a misdemeanor.

The DA’s office issued Meredith a summons to appear in court for her charge, so she’s not in custody.

Former Faith Academy teacher Jonathan Sauers was indicted in September 2023 on one count of having sex with a student and other count of school employee engaging in a sex act with a student under the age of 19.

Witnesses then said Meredith knew of an inappropriate act made by Sauers to a student, according to the DA’s office.

“Ms. Meredith is a mandatory reporter of the State of Alabama,” Mobile County District
Attorney Keith Blackwood said. “Under the Alabama statute, Ms. Meredith is required to report these types of allegations that come before her.”
