Asian restaurant reopens after death of a loved one forced it to close two years ago Streetwise

GREEN BAY — There is a new restaurant in town that just reopened, and it specializes in southeast Asian homemade recipes.

Arkhan Thai Cuisine opened last week in the former Lin’s Garden, 107 S. Military Ave. in Market Square. The owner is Anastazia Vang, daughter of Arkhan Lee, who used to have a restaurant with the same name on South Broadway.

Lee said that during the pandemic she got ill, and her husband and daughter took over for while. Then her husband suddenly passed away and they had to close down.

“It was hard, we were so depressed,” she said.

Now mother and daughter are teamed up to reopen the restaurant and bring back home made recipes from southeast Asia.

“It’s kind of a mix menu,” Vang said. “We have Hmong, Laos (dishes) and (from) that area.”

She’s learned and cooked with her mother since she was little, and now at 19 years old, she’s become a business owner. Vang was excited to open, but said that turned into a little bit of fear on the first day.

“The amount of customers that came,” she said. “I wasn’t expecting so many to be honest.”
