ASHEBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Susan Hunt lost her son to a fentanyl overdose and started a recovery resource center in Asheboro in his honor.
Now, Keaton’s Place is moving onto Keaton’s Next Step. That’s the name of a new sober living facility Hunt plans to open up.
“I get signs from my son all the time. I know he is proud, I know that this is what I’m meant to do, and I am going to do it as long as I can,” Hunt said.
Keaton’s Place started less than three years ago as a judgement free zone to provide resources for people who are addicted and their families. But Hunt knew there was more work to do. That’s why they are starting a sober living house along South Fayetteville Street in south Asheboro.
“We have been working towards this for a while,” Hunt said.
She has a vision for the new space.
“We are going to put some bedrooms … We have to put up some walls of course … This will be a little welcome center and have some sofas and things up here,” Hunt said as she walked through the house.
