Sevier County Sheriff’s Office introduces new K-9s

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. ( WATE ) — The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office has introduced the two newest members of the K-9 Division, Ringo and Zora.

Ringo is a friendly, German Shepherd Mix who is four years old and cared for by Deputy Garrett Jordan. The sheriff’s office said Ringo will work in the “A” Patrol Shift to help keep the Sevierville community safe.

Zora is a charming German Shepherd who is five years old and is taken care of by Transport Officer Holly Hickman. According to the sheriff’s office, Zora will work in the Corrections Division to help maintain a secure environment in both jail facilities.

Recently, the K-9s and their handlers completed an 8-week K-9 Handler School hosted by the Knoxville Police Department.

Ringo and Zora are certified as dual-purpose K-9s, which means they are trained to help with narcotics detection, tracking, and apprehension.
