Man accused of having cocaine in the car in reach of minor

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man on drug charges with a minor in the vehicle.

According to the LCSO, on February 2, a deputy was conducting a traffic stop on Interstate 390 in the Town of Avon for a traffic violation. The driver, 41-year-old David Poncharik of Nunda was suspected to be involved in drug activity.

It was alleged that cocaine was found in the car, which was within reach of a juvenile. Deputies said they arrested Poncharik and found more cocaine that was concealed on him.

According to deputies, Poncharik was arrested and charged with felony tampering with physical evidence, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, endangering the welfare of a child, and a traffic violation.

Poncharik was sent to the Livingston County Jail for processing where he was issued an appearance ticket and released to return to Avon Town Court at a later date.
