DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) — Walmart says its Decatur Supercenter is unable to take cash payments as the store works through a technical issue.
News 19 reached out to the big box store after it received calls from some Decatur residents saying they haven’t been able to make cash payments at the store for at least three days. One viewer even said he saw a woman using the CoinStar machine who put money in but was told they couldn’t pay her.

Walmart confirmed that the store is not currently able to take cash.
“Our store at 2800 Spring Ave. in Decatur is temporarily unable to accept cash payments,” a company spokesperson said. “We apologize for this inconvenience and we’re working to fix this as soon as possible.”
Walmart said the hold on cash payments is due to a ‘technical issue’ but did not offer any additional details about the nature of the issue.
While it is not taking cash at the Spring Avenue store, the company said it is still able to take cash payments at the Walmart Neighborhood Market at 1203 6th Ave Se, in Decatur and the Supercenter at 1201 Highway 31 NW in Hartselle.
