PHENIX CITY, Ala. ( WRBL ) – Phenix City Schools announced they are now accepting Pre-K applications for the upcoming academic school year and aim to enroll up to 270 students.
The school district’s goal is up from last year’s enrollment number of 256 students. Phenix City Schools says this year’s initiative “represents a pivotal step in early childhood education, providing 4-year-olds with unparalleled learning experiences that lay the groundwork for lifelong success.”

The program’s curriculum is focused on the “High Scope” educational approach. The “High Scope” method emphasizes the importance of math skills and phonological awareness. The school district says, children enrolled in the Pre-K program, will learn about number identification, simple math computations, letter identification, and sound and letter blending; two key components to developing strong reading comprehension skills and becoming “successful learners.”
