9 Salem-area swimmers to watch at the OSAA state championships

The OSAA swimming state championships will take place Friday and Saturday at the Tualatin Hills Aquatic Center in Beaverton.

Friday’s preliminaries kickoff with Class 6A at 9 a.m. followed by 4A/3A/2A/1A at 1:45 p.m. and 5A at 6:30 p.m.

On Saturday, finals begin with 6A at 8:15 a.m., 4A/3A/2A/1A at 1:15 p.m. and 5A at 6:30 p.m.

Here are nine Salem-area swimmers to watch this weekend.

Jarrod Coy, West Salem

West Salem sophomore Jarrod Coy is seeded fourth in the 6A boys 500 freestyle (4:49.18). He is also seeded 11th in the 200 freestyle (1:48.36).

Gentry Hagedorn, Central

Central junior Gentry Hagedorn is seeded second in the girls 5A 50 freestyle (24.85). She is seeded fourth in the 100 butterfly (59.82).

She placed fourth in the 50 freestyle and fourth in the 100 butterfly last season.

Nolan Horner, Silverton

Silverton sophomore Nolan Horner is seeded fourth in the 5A boys 50 freestyle (22.53). He is also seeded sixth in the 100 freestyle (50.48).

He placed fourth in the 50 freestyle and fourth in the 100 freestyle last season.
