VAN BUREN COUNTY, MI – George Rakich started working in an Italian kitchen on Chicago’s Southeast side as a teenager in the late 1960s. It didn’t take but two days before he knew he wanted to eventually own his own pizza place. So, in 1977, at the age of 21, he bought a carryout restaurant from the family he worked for.
