Dayton man recounts brutal robbery, attack

DAYTON, Ohio ( WDTN ) — After being robbed on Super Bowl Sunday, one Dayton man says he no longer feels safe in his neighborhood and demands action.

Kenneth Weaber told 2 NEWS he walked down North Main Street to the Main Mart. As he was leaving, he says four to five teenagers approached him asking about a stray dog. Before he knew it, they had snatched his bag of groceries and punched him in the face multiple times.

At one point, Weaber says one of the teens pulled out a knife, threatening him. Weaber was able to call 911 for help but was badly beaten when police arrived.

“I literally have a footprint on my chest from how hard they stomped me. They stomped my face. My face is completely swollen,” said Weaber. “And then at that point, one of them just punched me in the jaw like three times, knocked me to the ground.”

Weaber says he’s lucky to be alive, and says a stray dog may be part of the reason why.

He says he’d been feeding the stray dog for days, and he followed him to the store that afternoon. Seeing Weaber get attacked stirred the pup into action.
