OKLAHOMA CITY ( KFOR ) — The Better Business Bureau of Central Oklahoma is now investigating a debt collection agency following a surge in scam reports.

Kim Letcher is the CEO of the Better Business of Central Oklahoma and she said the organization is taking a closer look at the reputation of Progressive Legal Group, a debt collection agency.

“We wanted to make sure to get out into the community and let people know, to be aware that they may be receiving mail that is fraudulent and that is a scam,” said Letcher.

The BBB said they have received 90 scam reports since December with a staggering 69 reports filed just within the last two weeks.

“It’s directly targeting people saying that they have a loan that they haven’t paid and this is a debt consolidation or a debt repayment, and so that they need to repay the loan that’s outstanding,” said Letcher.
