Overturned tractor-trailer leads to closure on I-26

POLK COUNTY—Both lanes of I-26 eastbound were temporarily closed Thursday morning after a tractor-trailer overturned as it was coming down the mountain.

The accident occurred just before 8 a.m. on Thursday near mile marker 64. No other vehicles were involved, and no injuries were reported.

Initially, only one lane was closed after the tractor-trailer overturned, but just after 9 a.m., both lanes were closed so that the trailer could be uprighted.

Columbus Fire Department was on the scene, along with Saluda Fire & Rescue, Polk EMS, North Carolina Highway Patrol and NCDOT.
