HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – A woman in Henderson celebrated her 100th birthday on Thursday, and received a special gift from city officials.
Vada Carter was born in Hopkins County in 1924, but she now lives in Henderson. A survivor of tuberculosis, Carter also worked at the Cameo Theatre in Madisonville during World War 2, where she met various entertainers.

Carter was honored with a proclamation from Henderson Mayor Brad Staton. Commissioners joined the mayor in giving Carter a plaque and singing happy birthday.
