Wichita State University (WSU) has named ten high school students from Kansas, Missouri, and Texas as recipients of the Koch Scholarship for the fall 2024 semester. The students, who will each receive $30,000 over four years, include Alexander Baird, Samir Barraza, Carson Brewer, Tyler Casely-Hayford, Mayce Cashman, Sophie Clarke, Kayla Gann, Jack Rue, Israel Torres, and Erin Vance. They will study various subjects, including electrical engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering, finance, and accounting.
The Koch Scholars Program, established in 2014 with a $1.54 million pledge from Koch Industries, is managed by WSU’s Dorothy and Bill Cohen Honors College. Meredith Olson, Koch Industries Vice President of Public Affairs, expressed the company’s commitment to supporting students in the Wichita community and congratulated this year’s recipients.
All Koch Scholars are part of the Cohen Honors College, where they take honors courses and engage in activities. The college provides the scholars with professional development, service-learning opportunities, and community engagement activities. Kimberly Engber, Dean of the Dorothy and Bill Cohen Honors College, thanked Koch Industries for their support and acknowledged the scholars’ academic and extracurricular achievements.
