OPELIKA, Ala. (WRBL) – A 68-year-old Opelika woman is dead and her husband is facing criminal allegations associated with her death.
Investigators say Barbara Bell, died on Feb. 8, while in the hospital at East Alabama Health. Five days after her death, her 54-year-old husband, Spencer Bell, was arrested by Opelika police on allegations of elder abuse and first-degree neglect.
Bell has since been released from jail on bail.
Opelika investigators state the case is ongoing as they await additional information from the Department of Forensic Sciences.
