SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) — A member of the Utah skiing community passed away in a tragic skiing accident this week, caught in a small avalanche in Kosovo.
Kasha Rigby lost her life at Brezovica Resort on Feb. 13 when she was caught in a small avalanche, according to Hende Boulder, a longtime friend in the ski industry. She was reportedly crushed between the avalanche and the trees and died as a result of extreme trauma to the chest, resulting in massive internal bleeding and damage to her organs, particularly her lungs.

Despite the quick efforts of her skiing partner (her fiancé) who reached her within 20 seconds and attempted resuscitation with CPR, Boulder said her injuries were too severe and she passed away within seconds.
He said the incident unfolded near the top where she dropped in, triggering the avalanche that ultimately led to her death.
“She always loved paths unknown, and she followed many of them throughout the beautiful winding trajectory of her life. She has touched so many lives,” Boulder said.
