Batavia man charged with unintentionally shooting into neighbor’s apartment

BATAVIA, Ill. — Batavia police said a man has been arrested after he accidentally fired a gun and shot into his neighbor’s apartment.

The shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 1100 block of West Wilson Street.

According to a news release from the Batavia Police Department, officers determined two men were handling a gun and it was unintentionally fired.

No injuries were reported, but officers found the neighboring unit had bullet holes, according to the release.

One man, 35, was charged with reckless discharge of a firearm and reckless conduct, according to the release. He was processed at the police department and released.
