The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on February 26, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. The hearing will discuss recommending General Plan and zoning amendments to the City Council. These amendments cover housing, parking, and emergency shelters.
The proposed amendments include the 2023-2031 Housing Element Implementation. This relates to the approval for mixed-use housing, height and lot coverage standards, shared parking, inclusionary housing procedures, and emergency shelters. The goal is to improve the city’s housing situation.
The Planning Commission will also discuss revisions for state law consistency. This includes density bonus, electric vehicle charging stations, and accessory dwelling units. The aim is to align the city’s laws with state laws and promote eco-friendly practices.
Minor revisions will also be considered. These include changes to residential zone district street side setbacks, boarding kennels allowances, sign materials and area allowances, zoning permit changes, permit exemptions for interior floor area expansions, and time extensions for conformity determinations and amendments. The goal is to improve and streamline the city’s zoning laws.
