The National Weather Service predicts more storms for the Bay Area this weekend. Although the winds may not be as strong as those on February 4th, the saturated ground could lead to flooding, fallen trees, and power outages. The City of Sonoma may receive 2 to 4 inches of rainfall from Saturday to Wednesday.
Residents are advised to clear storm drains and gutters, charge electronic devices, and prepare sandbags. City Hall provides free sandbags to residents during business hours, with a limit of 10 bags per person. More bags can be obtained from Friedman’s Home Improvement Center. Free sand is available at Depot Park.
Depot Park has a self-serve sandbag filling station. Residents should bring their own shovels. Instructions for filling and stacking sandbags, as well as information on road closures, are available on the SoCoEmergency website.
Residents can report flooding or hazards to the City of Sonoma Public Works Department during business hours. After hours, they should contact the Sonoma Police Department Non-Emergency Dispatch. For life-threatening emergencies like downed power lines or blocked roads, residents should call 9-1-1.
