The Delaware Office of Marijuana Commissioner (OMC) is asking for public opinions on the rules for the state’s recreational marijuana industry. The OMC was formed after recreational marijuana was legalized for those 21 and older. The OMC’s job is to make the rules for this law. They are now giving the public a chance to review and comment on the proposed rules until March 29, 2024.
During this time, the OMC will post draft versions of the rules on its website for public feedback. These drafts may change based on proposed changes to the law being discussed by the General Assembly.
After collecting and considering public feedback, the OMC will start the official rule-making process. This includes filing the proposed regulation for publication, which starts the official public comment period.
The OMC will post the dates for the official public comment period on its website when they are known. The expected dates for the official public comment period are May 1 to May 31, 2024.
The draft rules released today include topics like how to get a license for a recreational marijuana business, the application process, and how licenses are issued, renewed, and transferred. The OMC encourages the public to review these draft rules during the comment period, as well as the official rules when they are published.
