Father dies, son survives Sherwood Township crash

SHERWOOD TWP. — A 55-year-old Sherwood man died in a single vehicle crash Friday on Oliverda Road. His son, who was a passenger, survived, according to the Michigan State Police.

Troopers found a Chevrolet Cruze smashed head-on into a tree shortly after midnight Friday.

Investigators determined the northbound vehicle crossed the center lane into the southbound lane and struck a tree south of Blossom Road.

Sherwood Township Fire and LifeCare EMS responded to the crash.

EMS declared the driver deceased at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt. His son was and survived.

Troopers do not know if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in this crash. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
