Local Upstate 1199 Members Honor Dr. King’s Legacy Through Community Service

Members of Upstate 1199 from Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse held events in January to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Angela Haynes, a CNA at Elderwood at Williamsville, attended a luncheon in Buffalo to recognize influential community workers. She praised the nominees for their commitment to service.

In Rochester, the union members organized a celebration. State Senator Jeremy Cooney gave the keynote speech. The event also remembered Bruce Popper, the former 1199 Vice President who died in 2022, and acknowledged his contributions.
