BEREA , Ohio (WJW) — A Berea man told police someone tried to lure his 9-year-old grandson into a car by offering ice cream.
It happened at about 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 6, along Hartman Street, according to a police report.

The suspect was described as a young white man with brown hair. He drove by in a gray-colored SUV.
He reportedly showed the boy a Drumstick ice cream cone, offering it to him, but the boy refused. The suspect then drove away, turning onto Fair Street, according to the report.

The boy’s grandmother had previously learned of the luring attempt that same day but didn’t report it because she didn’t think she had enough information to share with police, according to the report.
The family was urged to contact police if the suspect comes back.
