A menacing-looking mugshot of a suspected criminal in Chicago has gone viral online . Posting on X, Daily Loud uploaded the picture with the caption ” Chicago man’s mugshot is going viral.”
The social media post was viewed over 16 million times. The man, dressed in a black hoody, smiled while looking directly at the camera. The photo was liked nearly 150,000 times on X, but Daily Loud didn’t release any further information about the man.
While crime has dropped in Chicago in the previous ten years, recent analysis suggests that the crimes that do occur have become more violent. Theft levels increased exponentially between 2021 and 2022. Data from the Illinois Policy Institute said that Chicago residents reported 13% more crime between January 1 and August 31, 2023 than in the first eight months of 2022.
