Las Vegas police arrest 2 in January deadly robbery

LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) — Las Vegas police arrested two people in a January deadly robbery that left one dead and one in critical condition . The two now face several charges including open murder and robbery.

On Jan. 26 at around 6:15 p.m., police were called to the 5200 block of Garden Lane near Tropicana Avenue and Maryland Parkway after reports of a shooting. Arriving officers found two people suffering from gunshot wounds.

Medical personnel responded and took both victims to a local hospital where one was pronounced dead and the other was listed in critical condition.

Police said the victims were inside a garage at a residence in the 5200 block of Greene Lane when two suspects approached them and robbed them at gunpoint.

The suspects ran from the scene and the victims chased them to the 5200 block of Garden Lane, where a fight occurred, ending with the two victims being shot.

Through the investigation, police identified Ervin Ortega-Rodriguez, 21, and Daniel Meza-Ortega, 19, as suspects in the case. Police arrested Ortega-Rodriguez on Feb. 13 and Meza-Ortega on Feb. 15.
