Kentucky bus driver’s kind gesture makes boy ‘happy cry’

LOUISVILLE, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — A first grader at Louisville’s Engelhard Elementary School is normally smiling and waving as he steps into Larry Farrish Jr.’s school bus, but something was different on Friday, Feb. 9.

“I saw Levi sitting down by himself with his head down, and it dawned on me, something is wrong,” Farrish said, according to a Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) news release. “He’s always happy, but this particular day, he was not happy.”

The district said Levi told Farrish in tears that he didn’t have any pajamas for the school’s pajama day.

“It hurt me so bad,” Farrish said. “That just wasn’t my Levi, and I wanted him to have a good day. No child should have to miss out on something as small as pajama day.”

Farrish stepped in to help after his morning routes, stopping by a nearby Family Dollar to grab pajamas in various sizes, according to JCPS. He made his way back to the school and asked for Levi to come down to the front office.
