ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — New details were released about what happened on the day when Macedon’s former police chief allegedly drove drunk and crashed his patrol car on Waterford Road.
According to court documents, Sgt. Brigette Goodfriend of the Macedon Police Department and officer-in-training Nash Ritz responded to the scene.
In the paperwork, Goodfriend recalls helping Chief Fabian Rivera park his car in the parking lot of the Gananda Middle School before going inside to review the accident. The accident was determined to be his fault.
The documents go on to say the two officers drove Rivera home. It was alleged Rivera got into his personal car and tried to drive off again before Sgt. Goodfriend called the chief to stop him and to perform a field sobriety test on him.
Rivera resigned fro his position last November the day after he was charged. He was arraigned in court earlier this month and pleaded not guilty to DWI charges. He had his driver’s license suspended. His next court date is scheduled for March 6, 2024.
