Family of 4 dead in apparent murder-suicide, police say

In San Mateo, California, police made a chilling discovery this week, finding a man, his wife, and their two 4-year-old twin boys dead in their home.

According to a news release from the San Mateo Police Department, officers arrived at the residence in the 4100 block of Alameda de la Pulgas on Monday, Feb. 12, shortly after 9 a.m. to conduct a welfare check. Inside, they found the adults, identified as Anand Sujith Henry and his wife Alice Benziger, deceased in a bathroom, both from apparent gunshot wounds.

Police noted no signs of forced entry into the house and discovered an unlocked window before entering.

Reports from KNTV-TV indicate that the man allegedly shot his wife while she was in the bathtub before taking his own life. Nearby, police recovered a 9 mm pistol, reportedly legally purchased just three months prior.

Tragically, officers also found the couple’s two young boys in a bedroom. The cause of their deaths remains under investigation. According to KNTV, there were purportedly no signs of trauma on the children’s bodies, leading authorities to consider the possibility of strangulation or a lethal overdose.
