Ten individuals from High Point University (HPU), including faculty, students, and alumni, recently performed with Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli at PNC Arena in Raleigh. This Valentine’s Day concert was Bocelli’s first in Raleigh. Dr. Scott MacLeod, an associate professor of music at HPU and chorus master of North Carolina Opera, prepared the group after being contacted by Bocelli’s management.

The HPU group comprised three students, three alumni, and three faculty members. Students Gavin Conniff, Ward Mann, and Emma Longboat, alumni Noah Sigsworth, Laura Carskadden, and Emily Krol, and faculty members Jaclyn Surso, Ken Davis, and Dr. Oliver Stoutner were part of the performance.

MacLeod expressed satisfaction in seeing his students, alumni, and colleagues perform together at a significant event.

Bocelli, a successful tenor with nearly 90 million records sold over three decades, performed music that resonated with the Valentine’s Day theme. The HPU performers were grateful for the chance to perform with Bocelli and learn from professional musicians.
