DOVER — Road safety preparations were underway Friday morning as a potential snowfall awaits overnight, according a National Weather Service forecast.
Meteorologist Paul Fitzsimmons said 2 to 4 inches of snow could possibly fall throughout Delaware, with the weather event tapering off at sunrise.
Some areas could possibly see closer to 5 inches.
“It’s a quick system and by Saturday afternoon, it will be fairly dry and sunny,” he said. “Sunday will be pretty quiet with lots of sunshine.”
The National Weather Service forecast the chance of precipitation in Middletown, Dover and Georgetown overnight is 100%.
Mr. Fitzsimmons said the forecast confidence was “fairly good and the uncertainty is if there’s any inch counts on the higher end.”
On Saturday, temperatures in Middletown will range from 22-39 degrees, 23-44 in Dover and 22-41 in Georgetown.
Delaware Department of Transportation spokesman C.R. McLeod said “We are pre-treating roads with brine today and working on staffing plans. With the storm expected to arrive later tonight, we will have plows ready to roll once the storm moves in.”
