Accused Valentine’s Day impaired driver removed from court due to behavior

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A 29-year-old woman charged with drugged driving in a crash on Valentine’s Day was removed from court Friday due to her behavior, according to a court official.

Court Commissioner Sally Ackerknecht said Joanna Bojorquez-Higuera had earlier been in court but was taken back to jail. Her arraignment was postponed to Tuesday.

Joanna Bojorquez-Higuera is charged with driving under the influence of a drug causing injury, resisting arrest, reckless driving and driving on a license that was suspended or revoked for DUI. She’s being held on $110,000.

The crash happened just after 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of California and Chester avenues. One person was hospitalized with moderate injuries, police said.
