Huntsville Habitat for Humanity restoring home for new use

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Habitat for Humanity was hard at work Friday on a housing project in Huntsville.

Members of the group, along with other crews, had a clean up day at a home in the north part of the city.

News 19 was told the previous person who had the home gave it back to Habitat, and the group is now working to restore it so it may be used by other people participating in the habitat for humanity program.

Crews did some painting, yard work, and touch ups for the home on Friday afternoon.

Hank Dipietro, a permanent volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, says the home could be used in case of an emergency.

“One of the things that we run into every once in a while, is an applicant for a home for instance is in dire straits, they may have lost a rental or they’ve grown out of it and they need a place while we build their home for them. And so Habitat would like to use that in that emergency situation to potentially let them stay here,” Dipietro said.
