William Amos Hough High School corner Samari Matthews has scheduled an unofficial visit with Tennessee. He will be in town on April 3. The talented defender ranks as the No. 32 prospect in the 2026 class, according to the 247Sports’ Composite Rankings. He holds 28 offers, highlighted by programs like Alabama, Florida State, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
He’s tallied 46 tackles, two interceptions, and two tackles for loss during his first two seasons in high school. Matthews has made trips to Georgia, North Carolina, North Carolina State, and South Carolina since the start of his sophomore season. He’ll get his first look at the Vols and Knoxville, Tennessee. Tennessee defensive backs coach Willie Martinez and company have done a nice job of recruiting elite corners early in their recruitments, though they have yet to sign a top-100 prospect at the position.
Tennessee was Matthews’s third offer, which goes a long way with these prospects. Tennessee is consistently one of the first few programs to offer elite prospects, and fostering early relationships has helped them throughout their time over the past three recruiting cycles. We’ll see how they can do with Matthews during and after his visit.
