Marion’s Progress: Mayor of the Year, Community Awards, and Central Plaza Fundraising Update

City Manager Ryan Waller recently updated the public on Marion’s activities. The Corridor Business Journal acknowledged Marion’s Mayor and the community’s accomplishments. Marion received the Mayor of the Year and Community of the Year awards, indicating the city’s growth.

The Marion Park & Recreation Foundation launched a fundraising campaign for the Central Plaza project. The event was sponsored by Rinderknecht Associates and Uptown Snug. Marion Mayor Nick AbouAssaly, Chamber President Jill Ackerman, and representatives of Rinderknecht Associates and Al Rowe from the Park & Recreation Foundation spoke at the event. The campaign has raised nearly $850,000 and aims to reach $1.3 million. The project is expected to benefit Marion and the surrounding area.

Lieutenant Zach Bruce completed the Managing Officer Program at the National Fire Academy (NFA). The program, located in Emmitsburg, Maryland, is a multi-year course. It covers change management, risk reduction, and adaptive leadership, ending with a community-based capstone project. Bruce’s completion of the program shows his dedication to excellence and his ongoing development for Marion.
