TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A driver fleeing authorities in Tampa was caught tossing a gun over a bridge in the middle of a high-speed chase.
According to the Tampa Police Department, the unnamed suspect removed two items from his vehicle, one being a rifle that he tossed into the Hillsborough River.

The video shows the driver pulling over after he tossed the rifle out of the car window, which landed in the road. The suspect then gets out, throws it into the river, and continues fleeing police.
The driver then throws an unknown item out of the car while driving.
Officials were eventually able to conduct a traffic stop and arrest the suspect. The department’s dive team recovered the rifle, which was about 18 feet deep in the river.
Police said the suspect was charged with several felonies including tampering with physical evidence, fleeing to elude, and felon in possession of a firearm.
