This popular Bucks County farm attracted visitors for years. Now it’s closed for good

A popular Bucks County tourist destination has permanently closed.

Paxson Hill Farm, which welcomed visitors to its acres of walking gardens in Solebury for many years, made the sudden announcement on Facebook last week.

“We are closed and will post the dates of our estate sale, which will be at the end of this month beginning of March, when they’re confirmed,” it read.

In the days that followed, the post was met with hundreds of comments from supporters, expressing sadness and disappointment. Paxson Hill Farm replied to several commenters, confirming it was closing permanently due to “a poorly written/planned will,” and the farm would be going up for sale.

Its owner, David McShane, died last June. Property records show he purchased the 30-acre property for $1.5 million in 1997.

Since then, Bruce Gangawer, landscape architect and lead designer of Paxson Hill Farms, spent the past 26 years cultivating the walking gardens where visitors could explore the gardens’ colorful flowers, lush greenery, unique pathways, streams, ponds, bridges, ornate statues, wandering peacocks and other surprises throughout.
