Local young golfer to compete in Augusta

MARSHFIELD, Mo–Every spring the best golfers in the world gather in northeast Georgia for the Masters.

It’s a tradition unlike any other.

But that experience isn’t just for the professionals or the fans that stream into Augusta National.

Youngsters also get to smell the azaleas

As KOLR 10’s Chris Pinson reports an Ozarks golfer will show off his skills this April.

“Dude, we’re at Augusta, it doesn’t get any better than this”

At some point, every golfer dreams of going to the Masters.

“It’s the nicest course in the world.”

Most often, that dream plays out on the practice green.

Sinking a putt to capture the green jacket.

“Only the best golfers in the world get to go down Magnolia Lane.”

But that’s not how 11-year old Brock Jernigan is going to Augusta this April.

For the past three years, the Lebanon resident has attempted to qualify for the national drive, chip, and putt championship.

Matt Jernigan/Brock’s father:”We’ve got a setup in the basement and 10, 11 o’clock at night you’ll hear a driver hitting a ball down there, every once in a while hitting a wall, but hey, I guess that’s what it’s made for.
