Traffic alert: Portion of Southwest 95th Avenue in Wilsonville to close through August

Another step forward for the Willamette Water Supply Project comes with an additional traffic detour in Wilsonville starting next Friday.

Beginning Feb. 23, northbound traffic on Southwest 95th Avenue between Southwest Boeckman Road and Southwest Hillman Court will be detoured onto Southwest Boones Ferry Road as another segment of underground water pipeline is installed over the coming months. Construction is expected to continue through August 2024, barring delays.

The pipeline, which will be more than 30 miles long when completed, sits 8 feet underground, is made of welded steel and is 66 inches in diameter. With construction expected to finish in February 2025, it will transport water from the Willamette River to Tualatin, Beaverton and Hillsboro.

About 3.3 miles of pipeline will be buried beneath Wilsonville, with much of the construction already complete or ongoing. Two-way traffic recently resumed on Southwest 95th Avenue between Southwest Ridder Road and Southwest Hillman Court following the completion of another segment of the pipeline.
