Natasha Whittinghill-Engram, the wife of Sonoma County Sheriff Eddie Engram, pleaded no contest Friday to felony DUI causing bodily injury, with an enhancement for testing at greater than a 0.20 blood-alcohol level.
Her blood-alcohol level the night of her arrest was 0.23556, according to testimony in Sonoma County Superior Court.
After prosecutors introduced the conditions they had agreed upon with Whittinghill-Engram’s defense, she stood behind the courtroom railing in a black puffer jacket and quietly answered Judge Troye Shaffer in acceding to the charges.
Whittinghill-Engram’s attorney, Marty Woods, met with members of the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office just before the court appearance Friday, hammering out a set of conditions that include a 36-month probation period and 120 days of “jail or work release or an alternative left to the court.”
“Alternatives” can sometimes include community service, a DA’s Office representative said. In this case, the prosecution agreed to eliminate home confinement as an alternative.
