(CBS DETROIT) – Detroit area native Kid Rock is mourning the loss of his father.
In a Tweet, the singer, who’s real name is Bob Ritchie, spoke of his father’s death:
“My Dad, Bill Ritchie Sr, moved on to be with Jesus yesterday,” Ritchie wrote.
“He was an incredible father, grandfather, great grandfather, and so much more, none shy of being quite the character! Thank you for your condolences in advance. God Bless you and I love you Pop!”
Ritchie shared a link to his song, “Drinking Beer With Dad.” The lyrics reminisce about his time hanging out on the back porch with his father.
Bill Ritchie Sr was a longtime car dealer in Macomb County. He was awarded the TIME Dealer of the Year award in 1976.
Kid Rock has been loosening ties with his hometown in recent years, closing his Kid Rock’s Made in Detroit cafe at the Little Caesar’s Arena in 2020.
