BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The March primary election is fast approaching, and local candidates are ramping up their campaigns to get your vote.

The community candidate meet and greet kicked off Saturday morning at the California Senior Housing complex on California Avenue.

Wood is the only woman in the race to represent California’s 20th Congressional District — a seat previously held by Kevin McCarthy.

“One thing I can promise is every single day that will be my heart — to do, everyday, what I can to make sure that I improve the lives of the folks that elected me,” said Wood.

Meanwhile, Tatum is a veteran running against incumbent Karen Goh for Bakersfield mayor. Tatum fought in Iraq and is now a pastor.
