Philadelphia could experience biggest snowfall in two years, while parts of New York sees 10 inches

Philadelphia could experience its biggest snowfall in two years by the time the weekend is out, with parts of New York also seeing up to 10 inches in a surprise flurry. A “winter warm warning” for snow was issued by the National Weather Service for the first time in two years, predicting four to six inches on Saturday in Philadelphia .

This means the city is set for its snowiest winter weekend in years. Meteorologists agreed on Friday that several inches of snow could fall across the region, leading to Philly recording its biggest accumulation after 715 days without snow, according to Bob Larson, senior meteorologist with AccuWeather Inc.

Philadelphia International Airport measured 0.6 inches of snow on Tuesday – double what fell all of last winter – while 10 inches fell in the north and west. This winter is on track to become one of the top 10 warmest since records began in Philly , and would be the second time in a month snowfalls happened within a few days of each other.
