The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a winter weather advisory for several counties in the Rochester region.
The advisory covers Monroe, Orleans, Wayne, Northern Cayuga, Niagara, Northern Erie and Genesee counties.
Weather in Rochester NY region: How much snow will we get?
- Monroe County can expect additional snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches in the most persistent lake snow bands, leading to slippery road conditions. The advisory is in effect through this afternoon.
- In Orleans County, residents can expect lake effect snow with additional accumulations of around 2 inches in the most persistent lake snow areas. The advisory for Orleans County is in effect until 4 p.m. Saturday.
- In Wayne and Northern Cayuga counties, additional snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches expected in the most persistent lake snow bands. This advisory remains in effect until 10 p.m. Saturday.
- Residents in Niagara, Northern Erie, and Genesee counties should prepare for lake effect snow, with total accumulations of 3 to 6 inches in the most persistent lake snows. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph may create blowing and drifting snow. This advisory begins this evening and continues until 1 p.m. Sunday.
