The University of Arizona campus has recently experienced a series of incidents, as reported by the University of Arizona Police Department (UAPD). One significant incident involved a library employee who was assaulted by an intoxicated man on February 7. The man had exceeded his time at the public computers in the Main Library. The employee successfully restrained the man until help arrived. The incident was shared on Instagram, receiving positive comments about the employee’s actions. The man was later arrested.
On February 2, a suspect was discovered asleep during a vehicle burglary in the Main Gate Garage. A Parking and Transportation employee found him. The suspect fled, reportedly stealing bags, umbrellas, and change. The UAPD identified the suspect as a man previously arrested for trespassing and criminal nuisance. The case is under further investigation.
On February 3, UAPD responded to a burglary at Alpha Gamma Rho. Two suspects, one a UA student and the other unaffiliated, had broken into a statue on the lawn. They were arrested for third-degree burglary and taken to Pima County Jail. The UA student was referred to the Dean of Students.
