Tulsa celebrates 45th MLK Day Parade

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa’s MLK parade took place in downtown Tulsa on Saturday after it was postponed in January.

Hundreds of peopled braved the cold to commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

“A Vision for the Future” was displayed on the floats, drawing hundreds of people to the event.

Participants say the future is now and today’s children will help bring what the future holds.

“Our children are our future, and we have to do whatever we can to keep them motivated and challenge them to do better, to do better than us,” said Erma Wallace.

“What we hope people take away every year is to keep the dream, idea and goals of MLK alive, where the United States would be a place for everyone,” said Please Thompson, president of the MLK Commemoration Society.
