Darryl Starbird National Rod & Custom Car Show returns to Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. — The Iconic Darryl Starbird National Rod & Custom Car Show is back in Tulsa for its 60th year.

The event started on Friday and brought more than 1,000 cars to the SageNet Center at Expo Square, near 21st and Yale.

Show promoter Brice Bledsoe said the event was started by his grandfather Darryl Starbird, known as the “Bubble Top King” for his unique custom cars.

“He decided, ‘Hey why don’t we put on a show so we can showcase our builds,’ his and his friends, and then at one point he had over 30 car shows that spanned the entire country. And right now, we only produce here in Tulsa, but it still is one of the best events you will find in the entire country when it comes to classic, hotrods, customs and everything in-between,” Bledsoe said.

Aside from unique custom cars, the event also has car celebrities like the Owner of Gas Monkey Garage, Richard Rawlings, TV host Heather Storm, John D’Agostino, Von Hot Rod and of course, Darryl Starbird.

“If you’re into cars, this is the place to be this weekend,” Bledsoe said.
