On Valentine’s Day, police officers in Madison, Wisconsin, distributed candy, cards, and flowers to hundreds of city residents. This was the third year of the department’s ‘Police Be Our Valentine’ event. Officers visited various locations, including neighborhood centers and assisted-living facilities across six patrol districts.
Officers made stops at the Goodman Center, Tennyson Senior Living, and Fisher Taft Apartments. At Fisher Taft, residents and officers participated in dancing and card games. The event aims to strengthen the police department’s relationship with the community.
Neighborhood Officer Jesse Davila highlighted the significance of these events. He said, ‘We need the community to do our job effectively. Building relationships now benefits everyone in the future.’ Davila added that such initiatives help the community see the officers as individuals, not just law enforcement.
Residents enjoyed the event and hoped it would continue. The ‘Police Be Our Valentine’ event is viewed as a positive step in building a stronger bond between the police department and the community.
