Finals for the OSAA state swimming championships were held Saturday at the Tualatin Hills Aquatic Center in Beaverton and Salem-area swimmers vied for titles.
Here are takeaways on how swimmers performed in Class 6A, 5A and 4A/3A/2A/1A.
5A Salem-area swimmers
Salem Academy’s 200 freestyle relay team, featuring Brooke Stubbe, Haley Krieger, Ellie Gladow and Eliana Kuenz placed fourth with a time of 1:48.76.
Girls team scores — 1, Newport, 54; 2, La Grande, 43; 3, Sweet Home, 29.
Boy steam scores — 1, Newport, 72; 2, Catlin Gabel, 47; 3, La Grande, 31.
6A Salem-area swimmers
Two West Salem swimmers had podium finishes at the state tournament on Saturday morning.
West Salem sophomore Jarrod Coy placed third in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:43.36.
He finished fourth in the 200 freestyle in 1:46.06.
West Salem sophomore Abby Evans placed sixth in the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.04.d
West Salem’s 400-yard freestyle relay team, featuring Evans, Caroline Haworth, Odelya Laroya and Reyna Macias finished ninth with a time of 3:44.79.
