Good morning everyone, Happy Saturday! In the next few days we will have two storm systems move through. One quick burst on Sunday, and then starting Monday, a longer lasting system with heavier rain and snow will hang around until roughly mid-day Thursday. The longer storm also has some of the same characteristics|}
as the recent “atmospheric river/pineapple express” storms as the jetstream appears to be trending further South to grab that moisture and suck it up into the desert Southwest.
As the storm moves into the state, which at this time is expected to be well before sunrise, all precipitation should be falling as snow, however that may change mid-morning once the sun starts heating the planet. Any areas receiving rain won’t see much at all, generally less than 1/10″ (0.1 in). The mountains won’t fare much better. The Bear River Mts should get the full 4 inches I was hoping to see for. The Wasatch Mts will also see 4+”, yes that’s low, but this system is moving very quickly. Here’s your snow fall amp.
Quick Burst of Weather Sunday, More Expected Tuesday
